The Atlanta Submission Series
Our goal is to create a premium, pro-grappling experience for everyone with zero barriers to entry. Submission grappling is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation, and it’s time for the competition to evolve with the art.
Like a lot of you, we’re tired of spending all day at a local tournament, just to have two or three matches and walk away with a cheap piece of plastic for your time and effort.
We aim to change that by introducing a few new dynamics to the local competition scene:
1 – Our league format will allow for athletes to be featured on our stage multiple times throughout the season. This isn’t just toiling away in anonymity in a high school gym, either! We will be featuring our athletes on social media, streaming all matches for free, and we will be making our events fun, social outings for the Atlanta community; as a whole.
2 – Our EBI rules team format will ensure the action is non-stop. One of the main things holding grappling back as a household sport is the lack of appreciation for the technical difficulty of one vs. one grappling. Our three and four man team dynamics will make these events exciting to watch, even for the lay- person whose combat sports knowledge doesn’t exceed past the UFC.
3 (and most importantly) – we are putting up cash prizes for ALL winning teams. All sponsorship money goes to fighter payouts. That’s where the community comes in! The faster you guys can help us grow, the bigger the sponsor purses we’ll be able to ask for!
The Founders
Curtis Estes is a (bordering on middle age) hobbyist and lifelong martial artist.
Currently, a purple belt under Gui Curry at Team Octopus Sandy Springs, Curtis’s love for all things Jiu Jitsu, Judo and competition are the driving forces behind his desire to be at the forefront of this innovative new concept.
Spencer Hall, currently a (sandbagging) white belt under Gui Curry at Team Octopus Sandy Springs is a no gi specialist who got tired of having to go through MMA promoters and traveling fight cards to be able to participate in something new and exciting.
Together, we decided to take matters into our own hands and give back to the community that’s given us so much. Since neither of us plan to quit our day jobs, this isn’t a venture about profit.
This is our way of making sure there is a promotion in Atlanta whose priorities lie solely with its athletes.
